Our Delicious story
The Fish Basket is the creation of Peter and Elaine Shanahan.
We are serving fresh fish & chips locally sourced from West Cork.
Cooking is an art and patience a virtue. Careful shopping, fresh ingredients and an unhurried approach are nearly all you need.
There is one more thing - love. Love for food and love for those you invite to your table.
With a combination of these things, you can be an artist.

Both dishes were amazing. So fresh , just as fish should be. And real chips: not from a frozen bag...
Great addition to local food scene.

July 23, 2017 We were directed to The Fish Basket a couple of years ago when you were in the van and we were very impressed with the scampi and chips! Rediscovered you yesterday at Long Strand and it was as impressive. Portions were very generous and the food was gorgeous. Congratulations on the new location and best wishes for 2019. January 2, 2019Had the sharing box. Two large pieces of hake, scampi, mushy peas and chips. Plenty for 2 and only €15. Fish was so tasty and fresh! Amazing view as well !

July 11, 2018Wasn't our first time at the Fish Basket, love the location, We had a couple of first timers with us who also enjoyed the experience, we ordered 2 sharing boxes and a burger, food was delicious, I've deducted one star due to mix up with our order but I'm being really picky here, the mix up was handled very well, the fish basket was very busy which is lovely to see, we loved the food served and will be back very soon

September 15, 2018Fish was beautiful, cod, I don't eat cod, but person who had it said it was very good. Shame the chips were the frozen variety. Have to have fresh chips for a good "fish and chips" . I had a burger, which itself was lovely. Unfortunately, it was saturated with some kind of sauce and cheese added, which I did not ask for or want. I will be back there and be more specific when I order. Fresh chips please.

June 14, 2017 We cannot recommend the fish basket enough.the most amazing lunch we have had in a long time.mouth watering,plate licking,delicious food devoured by grown ups and kids alike .staff were sooo friendly ,efficient and accommodating.location was unbelievable. January 13, 2019 Fabulous food served by the sea on the beautiful Long Strand. Delicious fresh fish ! The restaurant is in a rustic wooden hut at the entrance to the beach, it’s well worth a visit you won’t be disappointed. Susan Ralph
