This is a hidden gem. On our way to Skibbereen we made a special detour to here. Our 1st visit and we were not disappointed. On the strand with fab views we were able to walk off our dinner. The decor is quirky and fun. At peak times you may have to wait for table but so worth it. All the staff were very pleasant and friendly. We had 1 of the sharing platter the nicest and freshest fish I think I've ever tasted. very reasonably priced. Home made chips were yum. will definitely be going here again.

We were directed to The Fish Basket a couple of years ago when you were in the van and we were very impressed with the scampi and chips! Rediscovered you yesterday at Long Strand and it was as impressive. Portions were very generous and the food was gorgeous. Congratulations on the new location and best wishes for 2019.

Fabulous food served by the sea on the beautiful Long Strand. Delicious fresh fish ! The restaurant is in a rustic wooden hut at the entrance to the beach, it’s well worth a visit you won’t be disappointed.

Called in yesterday evening with my sister. Amazing scampi, crab sandwich, chips and 2 x soft drinks - €20 ! Great value and lovely fresh seafood. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect stop enroute from Baltimore to home. We opted for the Scampi x 2. Excellent value. 10 Euro fish & chips. Served with tartar sauce, peas & wedge of Lemon. Vista from picnic table over the valley to Rosscarbery. Just gorgeous. Very clean area. 2 very friendly dogs part of the home grounds. Pigs & hens to show the kids. Toilets spotless. Bins provided for waste one for food rubbish other for cans , plastic bottles. Lovely young girl & lad serving. Look forward to popping in again enroute from Baltimore. Had chips here before with fish basket whilst in car park down the road. New venue much nicer. Well worth supporting too.

  After a lovely walk on the Long strand popped in here for breakfast... The place was packed ... Lovely atmosphere friendly staff and was so great to see the owner Peter having a friendly word with all ... Would highly recommend the scones and flat white were scrumptious... Looking forward to my next visit ... 10 outta 10

  We are so delighted to have the Fish Basket so close by . We had a fabulous lunch today: Scampi and chips And crab claws and mussels . Both dishes were amazing. So fresh , just as fish should be. And real chips: not from a frozen bag... Great addition to local food scene. Well done all there!!!

  We cannot recommend the fish basket enough.the most amazing lunch we have had in a long time.mouth watering,plate licking,delicious food devoured by grown ups and kids alike .staff were sooo friendly ,efficient and accommodating.location was unbelievable. On Sunday 16th July, a group of ~35 of us rocked up, impromptu, to the Fish Basket. We were several nationalities visiting from the International Space University. The staff responded wonderfully, and with the best attitude. They took our orders patiently, as some of us had little English. Food was delivered efficiently and was beautifully fresh, crispy batter on the fish and perfectly cooked chips, followed by a slice of divine chocolate cake. The location was perfect, beautiful view over rosscarbery, bathroom facilities, and even coffee! For some it was their first experience of fish and chips, others were fish and chip veterans, but everyone agreed the food was excellent! Thanks to everyone at the fish basket for their amazing hospitality and for making us all feel so welcome, oh and the full tummies! ��
