Our Delicious story
The Fish Basket is the creation of Peter and Elaine Shanahan.
We are serving fresh fish & chips locally sourced from West Cork.
Cooking is an art and patience a virtue. Careful shopping, fresh ingredients and an unhurried approach are nearly all you need.
There is one more thing - love. Love for food and love for those you invite to your table.
With a combination of these things, you can be an artist.

August 21, 2019On Sunday 16th July, a group of ~35 of us rocked up, impromptu, to the Fish Basket. We were several nationalities visiting from the International Space University. The staff responded wonderfully, and with the best attitude. They took our orders patiently, as some of us had little English. Food was delivered efficiently and was beautifully fresh, crispy batter on the fish and perfectly cooked chips, followed by a slice of divine chocolate cake. The location was perfect, beautiful view over rosscarbery, bathroom facilities, and even coffee! For some it was their first experience of fish and chips, others were fish and chip veterans, but everyone agreed the food was excellent! Thanks to everyone at the fish basket for their amazing hospitality and for making us all feel so welcome, oh and the full tummies! ��

It was mad busy but we got a nice little table for two; waited about thirty minutes for out food but it was well worth the wait; no fuss, no frills just honest, simple and tasty food in a fab location. 2 John Dory bring your own wine magic night out.Our friends had a share plate of hake scampi and squid.
All in all great food served and cooked by people who know how to source great fish and cook with the care.

April 5, 2019 Had the sharing box. Two large pieces of hake, scampi, mushy peas and chips. Plenty for 2 and only €15. Fish was so tasty and fresh! Amazing view as well !

May 12, 2019Absolutely gorgeous food. Well worth a visit. Kids loved the hens, pigs + sand area. Selection of fish + chips just delicious. We ate here twice in our few days in Clonakilty. It was just that good we had to go back!

August 9, 2018Wasn't our first time at the Fish Basket, love the location, We had a couple of first timers with us who also enjoyed the experience, we ordered 2 sharing boxes and a burger, food was delicious, I've deducted one star due to mix up with our order but I'm being really picky here, the mix up was handled very well, the fish basket was very busy which is lovely to see, we loved the food served and will be back very soon
